There have been several times over the past few months where I've been at the computer all ready to write, and it seemed as though nothing significant was happening. We're still just waiting, working and living our daily lives here in Wisconsin. Everyone I run into seems to ask what's new, and I have no answer but the same old same old. I don't want my blog to be boring, so instead of writing I've just neglected it. And I don't want to do that either. I know a lot of people like to keep up with what and how we're doing. So here's a bullet list of the happenings in our lives.
*The Christmas season was wonderful, even if we didn't get to spend it with our families.
*New Year's eve we did a progressive dinner and game night with a few other couples from our church. We didn't get to see the ball drop, but we would've missed it anyways had we tried to watch at midnight cause we're an hour behind.
*We went to our first NFL game on New Year's day at Lambeau Field, hoping that the Lions would pull off a win against the Packers back-ups, but being disappointed by a loss. It was a good experience none the less, but I think I'll stick to watching football on the tv; it's much easier to pay attention to what's going on down on the field.
*Steve applied for a part-time position on the local fire department. Still waiting on more details, but he has to take an entry exam to see where his knowledge and skills are at.
*He's also still way down on the list for HST A School, but creeping up ever so slowly. He said there hasn't been a class that's graduated since he's been on the list, but others have changed/dropped off the list.
*We were able to take 12 days to travel to Ohio and Michigan to visit family and finally celebrate Christmas at the end of January. It was a nice and much needed break for both of us, even though the drive there took double what it did to get back. We got to catch up with some friends while we were in Michigan as well. We didn't get to see nearly as many people as I would've liked, but so it goes.
*Work picked back up for me last week, and as much as I like that the paycheck is bigger, the amount of hours makes the week that much longer. I will be working more starting this week as my senior supervisor is leaving this coming weekend to get married and go on her honeymoon in Mexico. Pray that all goes well while she's gone.
*I got a bunch of new Cricut cartridges for Christmas and I've put some of them to use on a menu board project, but I'm more excited about being able to scrapbook and make cards. It is one of my goals this year to make and send out cards for friends' and family member's birthdays. If I'll achieve this, I have no idea, but I'm going to work at it starting this month for my secret sister at church.
*Sherman is doing well. He still loves to play ball and fortunately we have a long apartment on the bottom floor where he can chase it and not have to go outside for exercise in the snow. Though he does love the snow, he doesn't like getting cold feet.
*Middle school youth ministry has also been going well. Steve and I are teaching every other week, and the ones in between I am helping out another lady since her husband started working 2nd shift. Sometimes it's been challenging to think of topics, but Steve and I put our heads together and most of the time the kids really respond to what we teach. They are so eager to learn and I really hope we can find a curriculum that is relevant and can be continued each week for a number of weeks. Pray for this as we have a meeting coming up at the end of this month to discuss lots of different things pertaining to the youth ministry.
I really want to write at least 2 times a week, but I need topics. Pardon the lack of entries as I come up with ideas to share.
