It will be a year tomorrow that I finally got to see my best friend after not seeing or being able to talk to him for 8 weeks. And to be honest I forgot until I saw someone else comment on Facebook. Sometimes I forget a lot of things. Yes I do forget normal every day things, but that's not what I'm talking about here. I'm referring to how easily I forget events as time passes by.
For example:
I forgot that Steve was gone 8 weeks last year. I forgot what it felt like to not have my husband by my side. At the time, I know it was hard and I know I was an emotional mess, but after a year it's a memory that has just been pushed to the depths of my memory bank. Funny how that happens.
Sometimes I also forget that I live, and have lived in Wisconsin for a year now. Driving around town,to the station, or clients houses I dont think about the fact I am a WI resident. Oddly it feels like MI and home all at the same time. Funny how that happens.
Sometimes I forget I've only known Steve for about 4 years. It feels I've known him for much longer than that. In my 26 years, 4 is a very small number. Funny how marriage can be like that.
I also often forget I'm 26. I don't know how old I feel but it's not 26. Sometimes I feel really old and sometimes not so much. Funny how life happens like that.
I very rarely forget though, that the reason those things are "funny" is because the Lord is teaching me through this journey we've embarked on. He's taught me to take one day at a time. By doing so those memories of the past fade. They blend together with new ones as well. In His timing everything will work for His good.
Just something on my mind tonight. I am so thankful for a heavenly Father who is watching over me on this journey called life. Bringing me through challenges, showing me exactly where He's working for good too. God is so very good.
"People who live long lives together eventually begin to sound alike, to talk alike, even to think alike. As we walk with God, we take on his thoughts, his principles, his attitudes. We take on his heart." Max Lucado
